NEW LEAVERS
On leaving Ashville students become life members of the Society. Members are generally refered to as OAs (Old Ashvillians).
A fee is retained from the final terms School charge to parents or gusrdians.
On joining Ashville parents provide a deposit which is returned at the end of the students education.
The Society subscription is allocated against that deposit and sent, with the new OAs name and last known address, to
the Hon Treasurer in late October.
The Membership secretary then sends out a "Welcome" pack.
This systems means that all leavers automatically receive the Society services, unless their parents write to the Bursar
to withdraw from the scheme. A letter explaining this is sent out from the Society in a School mailing in June each year.
If parents do withdraw the New Leaver still remains a life member of the Society, and can re-start services at any time
by getting in touch with the membership secretary.
Society services run for 10 years for new leavers from the leaving date. Our newsletter "Update"
is posted out several times per year depending on the number of events being held by or for members, for all 10 years. In
addition the School magazine, "The Ashvillian" is posted out every December for 5 years.
After the first 10 years
At the end of 10 years members are invited to continue receiving services by means of a single cash payment (usually
in 5 yearly pre-payment installments) or by completing an annual Bank Standing Order.
Returning Members
Members not receiving the Newsletter or Magazine may start to do so at any time by making a cash payment, or by completing
a Standing Order.
Joining Fee
There is no joining fee. OAs simply remit to the Society the appropriate sum, as described below, to receive newsletters,
circulars, special member-only offers, the School Magazine, notices of the AGM and full details of other meetings or reunions.
FRIENDS OF ASHVILLE who meet the required conditions (Their children have all left School and have become
members of the Society) may join paying the same fees as re-joining Ashvillians. They will automatically be "active" members,
and will cease to be members when fees are not paid.
"ACTIVE" and "PASSIVE" membership.
"Active" membership is our way of refereing to members (both new leavers and other members)
who pay a small fee to receive Society services.
"Passive" members are members who pay no fee, do not receive newsletters, magazines or other
items.
Passive members have access to these pages for the latest news, Diary dates, Officers, etc. There is no charge for this.
